Default SKI RACK

I drive a Porsche Carrera cabrio 2002 all year round. During the winter I use snow tires and I put on the hard top.
I started enjoying skiing, but I have a problem - I cannot find a way to transport my skis and my daughter's skis. The regular rack companies ( Tulle, Saris, etc. ) do not offer anything for this particular car. Porsche offered me something made specifically for this car, but it is very expensive and cannot be used for a new Porsche which I expect to get in 2 years when I finished my lease.
Does anybody have any solution, considering that this is my only car which I use every day ( in other words I do not plan to drive another car just for skiing )?
I appreciate any viable solution.
Thank you,
Nic

Rent a car on the days you go skiing or find someone else to drive.

Don't invest in the Porsche system. I would rent performance ski's at the hill. You could get a custom hitch made for you car and put a hitch mounted ski rack.

Nic,

I've got the Porsche Tequipment rack for a 996 cab that was thrown in the deal for the hardtop that I purchased on eBay. I really have no use for it and was looking to put it on eBay to keep from further cluttering up my basement. I'd be willing to let it go at a significant discount - interested?

I do not know the details of the cab rack if it is different from the coupe, but i am planning on putting the thule box on my o2 coupe with the porsche bars. It will easily hold a couple pairs of skis. I know there is a weight limit, the box is light, but drag i am not sure about. I will try it anyway.

For what it's worth, the 996 and 997 both use the exact same tequipment roof transport system (pn 996-801-105-00). The ski rack that attaches to the transport system is the same for 996, 997 and Cayenne (955-044-000-23 small or 955-044-000-24 large).

You can always try the inflatable rack that is generic. However, I don't think they are as secure. Driving to ski in a 911 seems like a bad idea to start with. I'd rent a SUV AWD and forgetaboutit.

Hey, if James Band can go skiing in a Lotus Esprit (imagine that car in the snow!) AND an Aston Martin DB7,then your Porsche 996 Cab is just perfect!

All kidding aside, I will be "forced" to get a roof rack by next spring for the girlfriend's tri-bike! That was part of the deal.
I guess a little spring skiing isn't a bad idea. Do they make quarter inch thick Clearbra?
