Default Protect Leather seat?

Hey guys! I just noticed that my driver side seat is wearing down or scratched on the lower left side. I believe it is due to the button on the pants scraping up against in as I get into the vehicle. Any suggestions as far as conditioner to maintain the leather. Thanks!

This is a sore point for me also.

I would like to know why my 996 seats with less than 15k miles of use show more wear than my daily driver which has more aggressive bolsters and more than double the mileage?

I thought german leather was "vat dyed" so the color was absorbed into the leather. Apparently not when surface scratches can rub right through to the bare hide below! And this is most noticeable of course with the most popular color for Porsche interiors, black.

Maybe when you drop $6k or so on seat upgrades for the 997 you finally actually get a properly wearing seat?

maybe the seats are made to be sat in by someone wearing Lederhose.. They dress kinda kinky down in Baden Wurtenburg.. www.ebay.de keyword lederhose... you'll get plenty of hits.

I find that keeping the seats well saturated with leather conditioner will help eliminate the problem. Put the conditioner on once a month. It only takes a few minutes. It won't, however, protect the seats from the occasional screw driver you are carrying in your back pocket when your sit down.

I can't remember how I came to know that.

Hey mdillian3690, I have the same problem...

I guess previous owner never took care of the seats since the left side of it is cracked, right about the belt height. I do not think that even putting somthing on it will help...

I'll post pictures of that later so you can see if my problem is the same as yours...

I guess there is nothing we can do...

Do NOT put conditioner on the leather every month! That is overkill!!!!!

Once every 6 months at most. Keep them clean using warm sudsy water and wipe down, use leather cleaner when needed, and condition 2x/year. Yes, I've done this for years on both cabs, and it works very well.

Watch what is in your pockets, and be cognizant of how you enter/exit the seat, and you'll have fewer problems.

My car detailing guy uses lexol products whenever he waxes my car if the seats look like they need feediing...seems to work, but nothing will protect them from sharp objects or the dreaded cellphone scratch

I have been seeing good things about Zaino's leather care product. I have been a Lexol's customer for years and I really like it... am I missing out?

Zaino and Lexol are good products, but after using both I prefer Effax "leather balsam". It's sold at tack (saddlery) shops......
