X50 Oil Pan Option
Has anyone installed only the X50 oil delivery option in a 996.
"Porsche 996 Carrera x50 oil pump upgrade kit includes a oil suction pipe, a shield, a updated oil pan with partition box, and a dual chamber suction pump the installation of this kit requires some modification to your cylinder head cover."

This is the same kit that is used in all X51 cars (like the 40th. Anniversary). I have been told (when looking into it for my last car) that your valve cover must be sent to Germany for machining and they will not provide you with another one already modified. They claim that the cover on your engine has to be modified so it means that you'll see some down-time while they do it for you. No core exchange program is available. Apparently it has something to do with that piece fitting your particular engine best.

There is a shop in southern California that can modify the cover, but I do not know who or how to reach them.

I don't know, sorry. Why not go over to your local Porsche dealer and see if they can show you a cover that has been modded for the pump or look at an X51 equipped car? I can't see it being that big of a deal.

C4FDR:
For reducing picture size I use Photoshop (any variant including "Elements"). It has a "Save for web" feature option that works great. I'm sure other similar applications out there have such feature.
Cheers.

I have two engines (1999's) with the upgraded oiling system. The valve cover has to have 2 holes drilled in it (one for oil, one tapped to hold the oil line in.....Porsche calls it machining). PMNA in California can do it and I believe TRG can do it. Getting it in the right place is the hardest part. You have to use your valve cover since the valve cover has the upper cam bearing surface machined into it and they match ONLY your head.
Good luck.
