Default Engine Codes

Hi I have a 1999 that I bought after new engine install.

How do I know if I have the updated version?

You will have the same engine version, the 300HP 3.4l engine, not the post-2002 3.6l 320HP engine.

The 99's are 296 hp, in I believe 2001 they went to 300 hp and 320 in 2002.

Not to steal this thread but... Whats the diff between a 99 and 00? 99 Shows 296 HP while 00 shows 300? Same tq figures tho.... ???

All 3.4 liter cars are 300 HP.

For some reason the research ive read states the 99s at 296... No clue why.

There was a write-up on the Porsche website, etc., that explained how it went from 296 in 99 to 300 in 2000. Something like they improved the exhaust.

"The rest of the 911 model lineup gets a boost from 296 to 300 horsepower thanks to a new exhaust system. Porsche's Stability Management system is now available on the 2WD Carrera, and all 911 interiors receive minor upgrades."

The biggest interior difference was the texture on the dash and door panels and going from manual levers for the truck and hood release to electronic buttons.

296HP was only for US, in the rest of the world all 3.4l engines are 300HP.
