Question low RPM shifting

Specs: new 04 996 coupe, manual, now 600 miles.
This may sound like a trivial or silly question but I do a lot of stop and go driving at bridges and tunnels in NYC with frequent up and down shifting from 1st to 2nd while creeping along at about 10mph. At very low RPMs (creeping along at 10mph) I hear and feel a ‘thunk’ when shifting from 1st to 2nd. But, with RPMs a little higher the shift from 1st to 2nd is smooth. Is this ‘thunk’ just torque from the clutch at low RPMs? I don’t sense it as a problem, just a bit disconcerting.
Thanks in advance.

I used to feel something similar when I picked my car up. I say 'used' to because either:
a) I have become used to it;
b) I have learned to not do whatever does it;
c) It has gone away;

The last one seems the least likely.

Do you work in the city and drive in each day? I use a park and ride instead to save all the low speed work and hassle with idiots trying to force themselves into my lane. It's a lot cheaper too...

I only shift down to first on complete stops, otherwise I stay on second. I don't know which is better, I am curious to know.

I only use my car for weekend drives but there is still heavy stop and go traffic. The 'thunk' is very subtle and I have to pay attention in order to feel it. That's what makes me think that it is torque. oh well, forgive me for being paranoid.

I usually only shift to 1st at stops but you can blip the throttle and allow the syncros to mesh and then it will go into first although it really isn't that easy especially when the oil temp is cold even if the water is ok-
