Default Newbie here, just got my first Porsche...

I never understood what people meant when they said you just have to drive one. In my analytical mind a Vette is faster, so why would I buy a used P instead of a new Vette? So I test drove a 2000 C2 and it was awesome! I have nice fast cars but there really is something about this car! So I found the same car for a little less and am picking it up tomorrow. I am chomping at the bit for a TPC supercharger. Any comments?

by the way, is 44,500 for 26k miles a decent price?

thanks for the pic

oh and just for the record, i think that since you've already committed to buying the car, its not a great time to ask the price, (just a pet peeve of mine)

that said, to be honest, 44500 is slightly high in my opinion for that mileage

however, (and since i have a soft spot for gen 1 aerokit 996s) if the condition is very good, and the car has been taken care of properly, and has a few other options, it is well worth that price, especially if you like the car.

as a reference point, i know a of 15k mile 2000 C2 that (w/out aerokit) and barely any options, that sold for 40k a few months ago.

That said, the price is reasonable, and by no means did you get 'taken', enjoy the car, its a beauty!

typically 996/full aerokit costs 3-5K more in the used car market. i may be biased but the gt3 body makes the car alot more exotic.

i know what youre saying, but whenever i saw a car that was priced 8-10% lower it was always, completely stripped, or burgundy or green (no offense). i think ill be pleasantly surprised when i get it b/c the dealer owner bought if for himself and said it had a "revus" exhaust??? so i'm thinking there are a few things he doesnt know it has.

Car looks great, nice (and clean) wheels as well! My vote: Skip the Kompressor and spend some money on some DE's and learn to get the most out of what you have at present...

Did you get a PPI performed?

hey uber, thats a beast! i love red! what options do you got? good to see a fellow virginian flaunting the law and going sans front plate! cant stand the front plate look on ANY car. im in northern va, are there any get togethers like some of us do on the mb amg forums? ie, meet at a place, talk, eat, check out each others rides?

chris, i am going to my second scca level 2 solo2 class on saturday which i run my rx7 in. from the looks of it youre a solo'er??? anyway totally agree, many people need de and are always looking for pure power but at the level 1 school our instructor took the slowest of all cars attending. a 92 golf someone brought, and promised he's beat anyone there, my rx7, a zo6, m3 and 2 cobras included and he did just that!!!

That's not a bad price. Recently sold my '99 (no aero kit) with 31k miles for $41k.

Despite what people on the boards may say, it's hard to generalize on price with 5+ year old cars as conditions, options and maintenance history vary greatly.

All that matters is that you're happy with what you're getting.

I had 5 Vettes before my 99 Cab. Vettes may be a tad faster off the line but the 996 is so much more fun to drive. The Vette has a 40 ft turning radius. No biggie on the track but a real pain in regular every day driving. The Vette seems to take constant attention the Porsche almost drives itself.
You really have to drive both to enjoy the difference.
