Trying to sell '00 996 What should I be asking for it?
This is actually my uncles car that he does not use and asked me to help him sell. Its an '00 with 12500 miles. Great car in immaculate condition. Below is a link to pictures of the car. What do you all think I can sell it for?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Everyone else think this is the appropriate price I should be looking for? Also what are some good places to sell a porsche? I feel simply advertising in the paper and putting it on ebay will not be enough.
Thanks,
Jeff

I'd agree, that mileage is too low. I'd worry about RMS issues still to come post warranty. I'm debating either pre 99-00 for mid 30's (and keeping some money for issues) or 01-02 with a warranty from a dealer for 50 odd.
You also don'y say where you are, price varies by area too.

"that mileage is TOO Low, and at the point where it may be a negative"
Can't tell you what the car is worth; however, 12,500 miles on a '00 isn't too low. It doesn't hurt the value and should add to it. Unfortunately, with the 997 out as mentioned by others, the value will represent a pretty steep depreciation curve off orginal price.

That's crap.If the car has low mileage but has no paintwork, prior damage, and has been serviced properly, low mileage is a bonus .Obviously a car needs exercise, but 1,000 to 2,000mi. per year, especially in the snow belt is a plus

It's a beautiful car in a nice color. What we haven't heard is what kind of options it has.
With '01 prices clearly in the mid-$40's we're probably looking at low to mid-$40's. There's an '01 on from a big Porsche dealer on Ebay right now with 7K miles with a LOT of options for a buy it now of $49K. If the car was any color but black I might have even bought it!
In the end it's definitely a buyer's market. How much does your Uncle think it's worth?

He doesnt know what its worth hes leaving that up to me basically. As far as options go Im not really sure what it has. He did not order the car he just saw the color and bought it off the floor new. I know it has full leather and seat crests. Plus the premium stereo and full power seats. It has a sunroof. What other options should I be looking for?
Thanks for all the help,
Jeff

Easiest way is to look at the original window sticker. The other is look at the option sticker under the hood (white label with cryptic codes like X45 686 456 etc....). Take those numbers and run them through one of the many decoders on the internet. You could also call Porsche with the VIN and they'll tell you what the car should have.
Good luck!

I wish he still had the original sticker but he can not seem to find it right now. I guess Ill have to take a drive down there and write down all the codes under the bonnet. I do know he would like to sell it before the weather really turns. Because after that selling a car of this magnitude would be pretty hard in the cold stuff
Thanks

sgtpeper ,
a friend of mine sold his 01 with 18K miles for 52K very recently. He could've gotten more but he was really in a hurry to get rid of it. i dont think the impact of 997 is that high unlike some peope speculate. you should be able to get around 47K.

This place would be a great start in advertising it. Just become a Rennlist member and post it in the classifieds.. Well worth the money as you also get to meet a lot a great people
I personally dont think the 12k miles on this car hurts. I find it hard to believe someone would come over, look at the car and say, 'naw, too low mileage for my liking'....FWIW
