Display under Gauges
I have an '02 Targa with PCMI. I have noticed occasionally when shutting off the car that the display under the gauges flashes from (1) the current OBC setting (e.g., odometer and outside temperature) to (2) the oil measuring screen before briefly displaying (3) what appears to be a navigation map (i.e., the roundabout in which you enter from the bottom and exit on the fourth exit -- approximately 8:00). This leads me to believe that the screen could be used to display the nav instructions directly below the gauges. Has anyone else seen this? My car did not come with a PCMI manual, and despite many promises, the dealer has not come up with one. Is it possible to "activate" that function or hack it so that you don't need to take your eyes off the gauges to follow NAV?
Also, does anyone have a PCMI manual? If so, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
TD in DC

Adrian,
Thanks, Do you remember how you set the display via OBC? I have tried to look for a setting under the OBC, but I have not seen anything. It could be that the gauge panels are identical, but only the PCM II send the signal to the gauge. That is actually what I suspect is the case, but I would like to nail this down to be certain.

1. In the PCM menu, (I think its in MAIN / SET or something) you have the option of displaying all prompts or 'at turns' (at turns means the prompt appears only when there's something to tell you)
2. On the OBC stalk you just scroll through the display options - MPG, temp, range etc. - One of the options will show "navigation not active". - This then changes to screen prompts when using the sat nav.
It's really easy. - As you haven't stumbled over it before I suspect PCM1 doesn't have this facility.
Cheers,
Adrian
