Question Compression test - PPI question

I am buying a'99 996 (sorry no one had a recommendation for a PPI in the San Fernando Valley) and the dealer who is going to do the PPI says not much need to do a compression test on a 33.5k miles, 996 car. Does this sound right? I had been looking for a 964 or 993 and planned to have the compression and leak down tests done but now being told I don't really need to. I am willing to spend the money and think it should be done, anyone have an opinion?

The 99 is still a fairly new car so a compression test shouldn't be needed. I'd make sure all the TSB's have been addressed and consider an extended warrantee.

Get the compression check done. I just got screwed on my car. Spend the money now as I am spending $8k now.

Sounds like you want to have it done so go for it. Always better off being safe than sorry.
