Well I went over to see the new one - drive it. I have a new to me 996tt so I am not in the market -- Just went to take a look.
I had many thoughts as I looked at it -- it is nice looking.
The round head lights are a step backwards IMO - especially if they have VW's in the same lot! If you like the wide body cars you will like the sides. The rear of the car is just different - no better - you really need the two cars next to each other.
The interior is not that of a sports car - IMO.
I am, as I was when Porsche anounced the car surprised that the S is the same exact body. For those that like the narrow body cars (I do like the simple lines) you are out of luck.
Just did not blow me over -- great car to drive -- but so is the 996.
I would have preferred a little more edge to it.
