I was checking out the Porsche configurator (which now has 997 on it), and was surprised to see Targa still on there. Is this just "still" there from 04, or will there be a 2005 Targa (obviously 996 if so)? With sales of only 90 units in North America January through July, I can't believe they will continue production into 2005.

they will produce the targa alongside the Carrera 4S/etc 996s until they are all phased out at the end of 2005

Just spoke to a friend who works at AMG and his wife is in the corporate office at Porsche - the finaly word is - "NO MORE TARGA'S" PERIOD - Thus far she has NEVER BEEN WRONG. Really.
