If you get bypass pipes for the catalytic converters - will this not trigger the engine light ????? and if the engine light triggers does the cars ECU not go into "safe mode" robbing you of power?????

Any thoughts on using a by-pass pipe ??

Bypass pipes will trigger the CEL. Besides, you need the converters on your naturally aspirated engine as they provide the required backpressure. Now, if you had a turbocharged engine, that would be a totally different story.
