Bought a 2003 C4S
I bought a black/black 2003 C4S from Bentley Downers Grove near Chicago on Friday the 13th. I actually went there to look at a 2003 Carrera, but ended up test driving both and falling in love with the C4S. It has the PSE, which sounds amazing! Leather package (dash, door panels, side rear panels, all double stitched with contrasting white seams) was part of the deal. It doesn't have a changer, which I'm going to have to buy one day. Of course, it's a 6speed manual. The car is fantastically clean and the whole package looks like a new car! This is my second Porsche, my first being a 1995 blk/blk 993 that I did Eurodelivery on back in 1994.
I am new to Chicago, but I was thinking about going to Lynch Porsche downtown for warranty services. Anybody recommend a good Porsche independent shop in Chicago?
I'm also thinking about getting a winter undercoat for the C4S from Ziebart.

Very nice! Congrats!
Do investgate undercoating services. . . modern cars these days are pretty resistant to corrosion, with use of galvanized steel and factory undercoating. But, I moved from the Rustbelt years ago and haven't really kept up on the subject.

I forgot to mention that pics (lots of them, especially of the leather interior) will be forthcoming.
I don't think the car came with the bumper plugs (or the front bracket for the plates). Is the dealership the place to get the bumper plugs?
I saw a few pix of people with narrow body Carrera with Turbo bumpers and silver grills. I think the silver grills will look nice against the black of my bumper, does anybody know if these are available as a simple swap for the C4S?

Welcome and good choice! I would look at either Porsche Exchange in Highland Park or Motor Werks in Barrington for service. Both are excellent and worth taking the extra time to go for. As to independents there's one out by O'Hare called Eurosport who are a Porsche race shop.

Thanks everybody. I'm intrigued by Eurosport. Is this their website? This place is in Bensenville

I was wondering what that red thing in my engine compartment was...it turns out the previous owner installed a FABSPEED MOTORSPORT MAXFIO airbox kit! The OEM airbox is sitting in the trunk. And I can't find the front plate bracket or the bumper plugs, so I'm going to have to order a set from bumperplugs.com

Lynch is no more, sold to Loeber. Nice, neat service area, will be rebuilding a new Porsche store over next year or so. Napleton is OK too. Midwest Eurosport is terrific- I'm about to leave to pick up my car after a tech, oil change and brake fluid flush in prep for a track day Wednesday at Blackhawk Farms. Lots of the local Porsche racers use them, and they provide support at the big race and DE weekends around the midwest. Good luck.

Congrats, when i bought my 03 C4S, the dealer told me not to put any underbody protection, as the car already comes with it, but suggested a paint protection? which i declined.
