Default BBS RS-GT Wheels - Silver or Black on Arctic?

I am seriously tempted to put some BBS RS-GT wheels on my 04 Arctic Silver Targa (like tomorrow morning, maybe). Haven't seen them in person but wondering about polished silver versus Black Diamond - I like the Black Diamond a lot but not sure which would look better with Arctic Silver. (Tire Rack has an Arctic Silver demo coupe on which you can see both wheels, but its hard to get a good idea.)

Any comments / pics would be appreciated.

I'd stay with the polished silver unless you like the dark wheel vs lighter car look.

Polished for sure! Black on silver makes the car look cheap in most cases. Some black wheels look nice but they better be on a bad *** car like a GT2 or 3...

Look at the Champion RS97 monolite's. Expensive but sick looking on a 996 of any type.

Thanks for the comments so far. My impression is the Black Diamond is a fairly light coating that leaves the wheels still looking a dark silvery. Here's a few pics. Also see itzkirb's gorgeous work-in-process (or are you done now?!) with the Black Diamond BBS RS-GT's (itzkirb, you are a very bad influence on me!).

Jim,

Sorry, but I am going to give you something to think about.

Try to get some clarification about offset in regards to the BBS. I mention this because a 986S buddy of mine has a set on his and it appears that the wheels are farther inset than the stock wheels. You may have to consider spacers to make it "look" right.

The BBS RS-GT is a fine wheel as it is very light. For Arctic, I don't think you could go wrong with either choice, but Black Diamond will look darker in person than it looks on the WE website.

Personally, I like the Champion wheels, but one of my alltime favorites is still the TechArt Formulas.

I don't think you could go wrong here so best of luck.

Yes, the offsets are not the best on the RS-GT, but I used spacers to bring them out a bit more. I really like them a lot...they are light weight and pleasing to the eyes...

Took it on the track yesterday...

Diamond Black looks awesome (hot ride, kirby!). My vote goes to the DB. Yeah, it's new skool, but looks race inspired. Silver wheels are conservative, but this is a Porsche!! Live a little!!
On a Silver car, the darker wheels will set you apart. (in a good way)
post pics when done.

Elton - thanks for your comments. I checked the TechArt Formula wheel - nice but not what I have in mind - and the Champions are all 19" (at Wheel Enhancement) which I don't want. I am also starting to like the SSR GT3's but searching the forums I am a little nervous about their strength. I am going to Wheel Enhancement tomorrow to see everything in person.

Kirby - thanks for your comments and especially for posting all those pics. The pics do make the wheels look a little darker and on that basis I think I would stick with the polished silver. On your car, you made a GREAT choice of wheels.

I will definitely ask a lot of questions about the offsets.

Thanks, guys!

Mike - saw your post after my last response. Thanks - interesting perspective. Don't want to be too conservative but don't want bling either. But do like to be different and maybe the Diamond Black will look great in person - hope to know tomorrow.

What's cool is that the BBS' look different in different lighting.

Kirby - very interesting. I had looked at your gallery and the above pictures show the lighter look of the wheels (your second post above made them look very dark). I think I like the Diamond Black (with the lighter look) a lot, but with the polished silver I'm not sure I like the wheel as much. This is starting to drive me nuts!

You know, if I hadn't met you guys, I would probably be just as happy as a clam driving my car instead of rennlisting. But now its a vicious cycle of which mod next, PSS9/X74/Euro M030, short shifter?, which wheels, PSE/GHL, etc. (got PSE and love it), ad nauseum. But NO, I am NOT getting a supercharger!

Jim, you kind of sound like Kobe's girl when she was saying "no." Your saying no, but...

And to Kirby, do you have a dyno yet? BTW, I love the mods you have done. Great look and GO.
