Default FFP's "Quiet" Shifter Cable Upgrade

FUNCTION-FIRST presents the Premium "Quiet" Shifter Cables...

* ALL THE FEEL... WITHOUT ALL THE NOISE! *

Hello fellow 996 enthusiasts! Very excited to share details on the FFP Premium "Quiet" Shifter Cables. Think of these as augmented OEM cables with no corners cut or compromises made.

These have been on the market since late 2023, but I never "officially" shared info in the tech forum - so here we go! Looking forward to diving into some more in-depth technical detail by answering your questions on the subject.

Through extensive engineering, testing, and development, we were able to combine the best attributes of "OEM" cables and "Competition" cables into one comprehensive package.
The result is a stronger and more precise than "OEM" cable assembly that remains smoother and quieter than "Competition" cables.

Beyond implementing an up-sized cable gauge for enhanced durability, these cable assemblies are fully isolated from the transmission mounting points via the integrated rubber-damped mounts to greatly reduce NVH transmitted into the cabin.
Further design enhancements reduce the metal-metal contact points wherever possible for reduced rattles, as well as using bespoke and tightly toleranced Delrin cable ends for unparalleled precision. Plus, provision for safety pins at the ends ensures the cables cannot pop off.

Whether you're building an all out racecar or the ultimate daily driver, you no longer have to compromise -- FFP's "Quiet" Cables upgrade checks all the boxes.

Key Design Features:
  • Up-sized cable diameter with armored jacket for increased strength, durability, and rigidity
  • Rubber-Damped mounting blocks to greatly mitigate NVH transfer and to reduce shift notchiness
  • Nylon-coated cable and liner with optimized entry-exit geometry for smoother and more "natural" gear engagement
  • Pre-Applied insulation on cable conduit exterior for further reduced NVH
  • Bespoke and tightly-toleranced aluminum Cable Ends with Delrin internals to eliminate sponginess and excess play
  • Cable Ends with provision for "safety pins" to ensure cables cannot pop off
  • Keyed anti-rotation mounting blocks for easier install
  • Pre-assembled cable ends for minimal adjustment hassles during install process
  • plus, installation tools are included!
Fitment = 996 / 997 (1999 - 2012) manual transmission WITH ball-end selectors
(will soon be releasing cable ends for use on the early 996 transmissions that utilize the "pivot pin" style gear selector)

From the fitment section, I would assume that the 996 and 997 cables are exactly the same?

They are actually 2 different SKUs.

The 996 cables will technically fit the 997 platform, but they are a few inches longer than required for the 997 Carrera, so I make a dedicated shorter cable for the 997 Carrera platforms.
