Just got mine today and am absolutely in love with it. So much better then my old 99 cab I traded in. Like night and day.

No 1079 of 1963
Purchased Date: 12/04
Purchased from Rusnak Westlake, Los Angeles
Favorite Option: Turbo Style Bumper, X51

Need to get PSE next and clear side markers. Any tips on where to best get them?

You guys have the best street 996 out there. I almost traded mine in for one but thought I would wait for a 997. After seeing 997 in person, I think the 40th looks better in and out hands down...and the price is right on them too!

Enjoy them!!!!1

I am jealous.

Hey Riozilla CONGRATULATIONS!!!
You've made a great purchase! You'll be amazed how each day you will appreciate the car more and more. I got my clear markers from Suncoast Porsche http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv? It is the best mod for $30 bucks. I'm also thinking doing PSE, but I might do The Porsche Driving Experience first. Let's do some canyon carving one of these days.

Robert: Thank you for the compliments... I couldn't agree with you more. The day I purchased my 40th I was comparing it side by side with a base 997 (launch car)... The decision was very easy.

Cheers.

For any of you guys considering the PSE, don't hesitate. I got it on the car as soon as I took delivery of it and didn't bother with the switch nonsense. The exhaust is incredible! I agree completely with Fast40th, the 997 was nothing compared to the 40 Jahre and the 997s wasn't any faster feeling at all. Considering the incentives offered on the 40 Jahre, I couldn't resist. Guys, get the PSE, you will not regret it...

I just ordered clear side markers from Eric @ BumperPlugs along with a plug for my driver side door keyhole as my first mods.

Also investigating the best method for ipod direct-line-in on the system in this car.. spent time at paris audio on pico today but they were not much help. Basically said to wait til after CES in January to see what is announced and that nothing delivered clarity of sound that was out just yet for our systems.

Trying to find PSE for a good price right now (used or new) -- is there a special one for our cars with X51 or does the regular 996 PSE work fine? Looking forward to getting some "bulls-eye" type tips which I think look great.

Loving the car, today was my first day of really driving it - mostly city driving with lots of traffic - but the few minutes I had to open it up on PCH and the curves of topanga canyon brought a huge smile to my face.

Fast40th, I'm good to go canyon carving pretty much any time -- maybe next weekend? PM me to set something up.

Rio

Default 40th mods

I got the PSE on mine from Brandywine for around $1,500. That was 7-8 months ago, and I've never looked back. It is a must-have. Next, go with the X74 suspension package from Gert at Carnewal. As I recall, that was around $2k with the engine protection plate, and my dealer charged me $1k for the install and four wheel alignment. Mine also has the Rennline pedals, clear corners, and 35% tint all around. This is my 4th 911, and in my opinion, the best one yet. I'm head over heels in love with the car. I bought it last Christmas and it now has 9k on it. But my two major mods really seemed to transform the car. Good luck with yours and welcome to the club! As far as price, I paid $90k before the discounting began, and have no regrets since this one is a keeper.

Default cool pix...

...I'm sure you'll be happy with it for a long time. Kind of a shame they drilled the frtont bumper though. But I do like those seatbacks; mine has the optional "comfort" power seats and do not have the metal on the seatbacks. Again , congrats!

Buttonwillow. Top speed was slightly over 130, Willow Springs would probably be a bit higher.

Enjoy your ride!

Hello
Just got back from the Porsche parade in Traverse City, Mi. Great turnout (over 800 cars) but a sad turnout for the 40th anniv. cars. (1) Car #1374 just turned 130,000 miles!
