Question Gauge Face Install Help

Has anyone replaced the stock gauge faces? Is this tough to do? Any step by steps available?
Thanks,
Garv

are you changing the entire gauge cluster or just the faces?

www.p-car.com has a DIY for 993s...might help a bit with your 996 install.

I'm changing just the faces, not the actual gauges.

I dont have it but there is a DIY floating around for the instrument cluster removal / OBC Hack and several posts on the topic.

Basically you unscrew (left side is easy right side is tricky) and remove the instrument mount (wiggle it and pull straight up), remove the cluster from the mount by removing two screws (easy), I believe there is a one or two step process to take apart the cluster / cluster cover to get to the gauges. At this point you should be at the installation instructions for the gauges (mark location of needles, install new gauge covers, replace needles, etc).

I'm sure someone else will have more details.

Not a tough install, however, be careful when you remove the old gauges and install the new ones, not to tamper with the needles or you can damage it. You might be better off sending it out for someone to do for about $200-$300. I know FVD and EVO do something in that sense.
