Default Is extended warranty transferable?

HI. I'm about to purchase a 996 turbo, and it has extended warranty with the current owner. However, I want to know is the extended warranty transferable to me, such as the factory warranty?

Please give your inputs.

Thanks.

If the extended warranty is from Porsche the answer is yes. If another provider, you'll need to check it out.

Watch out. I bought a 1997 Boxster in 1999, and the factory warranty ran out in 1999. The original owner bought a 5 year warranty in 1997 from a company the dealer used. The original owner sold the car in 1999 to a guy who owned it for 30 days, and I therefore bought the car from the second owner. The 30 day owner transferred to warranty to himself. I then contacted the warranty campany and there was a restriction that it could only be transferred once. $2,500 for the warranty down the drain.

One more gotcha:
There is also typically a deadline for transferring the extended warranty policy, so read the fine print. For example, Warrentech gives you only 30 days from transfer of title to submit a form and a $50 fee to change the owner of the extended warranty policy.(can only be done once as Tool Pants stated) One day past the 30 day deadline and you are SOL. They will not honor the policy under your name.

Also, some extended warranties can only be transferred if the car is sold to a private party; if the car is sold to a dealer the warranty does not transfer to the dealer nor to any future owners who purchase the car from the dealer.

This is exactly how mine is worded. I can only transfer to a private party, and it can only be transferred once. Western General.

Hi. I'm thinking about the Turbo. But I also found a 2002 Black C4S with auto trans for $60k with 27000 miles. Everything is pretty neat and clean. It's certified pre-own when the owner bought it from Porsche. Therefore, it has an extra 2 years extended warranty from Porsche.

So the warranty from Porsche certified pre-own is transferable? How many times?

So do you guys think it's a good deal? Also, black is not my favorite color. Yellow is, but all the yellow cars are in the East coast. I can hardly find one in South Cal.
