5 being the best overall condition.
1 being the worst.

The grading system that you posted in that link relates to the outside (NAMA) detailed inspection reports.

Let me clarify. The "CR" or "condition report" grading system is Manheim's own grading system.

The other system you linked is NAMA and different.

What does it mean when there are asterisks (*) on the price?

I thought it refers to both including manheim's new grading system as you scroll down.

Means the sales figures in the cars sampled are not backed up with transactions. It still means thats what it sold for at the auction block.

But if the car had gone through arbitration, then the actual number the dealer paid would be different from the auction block number. I'm sure there are other reasons, but that's a big one.

For example, if the Manheim inspector claims a car runs on it own and given a thumbs up by Manheim inspection team, then it's given a "GREEN" light condition code, which means it's backed by arbitration. Now if you win the car at auction and pay to have it shipped, but the shipping company can't get it started nor the Manheim on-site team. That's a problem, a big problem. The burden is on the dealer that took it to auction. As we all know, there is NO guarantee the car will work one day or the next. Again, the buyer is protected in this situation. The car would go through arbitration. It's like filing a claim on eBay when the item doesn't work as the seller described. You get you money back and return the item or agree to a partial figure for the item accepting it as-is. Unlike eBay or Amazon, It a serious legal transaction, not loosey-goosey like most of the online platforms.

Any cars that are RED flagged by Manheim but still run through auctions do NOT have an option to arbitration. It's AS-IS! You'll get a better deal at auction but you may win a huge money pit.

I don't see it implemented on our end. We're seeing the more established Manheim trade-marked "AutoGrade" system. Maybe they'll move to the NAMA system. Don't know.

I don't run the dealership nor work there and so they know MUCH much more than I do dealing with the details. From what I understand it's a well-run system, and the Manheim people are very professional and serious about their business.

Very interesting window on market values. Thank you. Sold copart prices would be nice but seem to be top secret clearance only.

So my conundrum is mine has 144K on the body, rebuilt and bored out (3.6) at 85K, nickel sleeved (Nickies) by L/N. Has IMS and all updates to 04. Coilovers, 997 Seats, lightning, etc. rebuilt top, etc. It's hard to judge the value from that, but it runs great and the only good news is that I'm so attached to driving it that I'm not keen to sell it but my wife is! For some reason she thinks it's "nothing but a money pit"..(Told her to step to the edge and look down to be sure...)

What do you think? No idea of what it could go for....
