Default Thoughts on Millenium Edition 911

I have a chance to buy a 2000 Millenium Edition 911 with 28k miles. It has had all service done and is in great shape. The seller wants 51K for the car and will pay for the upcoming 30k service. Does this sound like a good buy? Are these cars worth any premium because they are limited edition or would I be better off just getting a "plain" C4? Thanks for any opinions. Scott

not worth 51. in my opinion.

if it is in your budget,

for 65 you can get a NEW 40th Anniversary 911.

The 40th is a $90k+ car. You may be able to get it for as low as the low 70's, but $65k? Not sure about that. Not for a new car, at least.

Not worth it at all....if anniversary is out of the budget then look for a deal on an 02 c2 ..............great deals are out there...I paid 53k one year ago for an 00 c2 with 11k miles and upgraded to the max!!!!

Color combo appeals to only a few and for that price there are many other options.

Under 70 might be closer than we think.

There is a 40th right now on ebay with a current no reserve bid of $65,000.

I remember reading somewhere that there are actually more millennium C4s then regular MY00 C4s.

Scott10s,

I owned a Millenium in mint condition and it has not been an easy car to sell. At least not in Spain. I bougth it thinking more in a good business to be made than following my own taste. A mistake. Local Porsche amateurs preffer a simpler interior ( non wooden ) and the colour does not appeal to all .
Anyhow, if I am not wrong , there were only 911 Milleniums made. It should keep a good value in a very, very, very long term basis.

I see a few of them for sale here and there. They honestly barely have any special value, which is a shame, but just like the 40th Anniversary addition depreciate like any other 996.

I know that the 40th Anniversary Edition had extra horsepower, chrome wheels and a slightly different paint job, but what was special about the Mellenium Edition?

51k is a little pricey for a '00. I bought my fully loaded '02 C2 with 17k miles for 53k, last month.

Default Mille

No real performance options included as standard (other than the sport suspension). Just every available "luxury" option. As I recall, if one were to total up the "retail" value of the options the final ticket came to something like $106k, but were in the Mille package standard. Unlike the 40th, there were no options available, other than tiptronic. As I recall, the car stickered, in 2000, at $89,990. All of the Milles were, of course, C4 coupes. It was a great Porsche for every day driving for me for a couple of years, but as some here have said, the color combination is not for everyone. (Then again, at local PCA events, the car was the star of every show.) I had no trouble at all moving out of mine, as I recall for about $65k in late 2002 (with 28k miles). Every car has a buyer. That said, the 40th is a lot more fun to drive with 45 more hp and less weight to haul around. I think a low mileage Mille today is probably a $45-50k car.

Default Nothing special

I had a Tip version.....with 8000 miles when I sold it for $65,000 about 18 months ago.....new tyres, 15k service, extended warranty etc.....

The Tip. was fairly rare....The car was mint!....I felt damn lucky to get $65,000....had higher offers, but no real money ever showed up.....The color and the wheels are drawbacks......the options are great but really don't command a premium...in my opinion

Having said all the above, if you like it and plan to keep it for a long time buy it...if it is a Porsche dealer then reqire that they certify the Porsche.....you will not regret it.....

It is just another 996 at the end of the day.....

Good Luck
