On my "new" 03 C4S it is equipped with the Bose Hi-end stereo, but it does not have the "dash CD holder", BUT looks like it was there (something was because the leather backing is peeled away, and there is a hole in the back behind the leather). Does anyone know if this was included with the Bose system, or just another option?
Thanks
Love this car!

oh yea, and for your peace of mind:
it is not "included" per say with the bose packadge
it is a separate option (just in case you were wondering if someone ripped it off your car)
however, on an additional note (overkill i know), i haven't seen a single dealer that didn't order this on all of their cars...

Is it "powered" in any way? (which would explain the hole)

The CD Holder does not slide into the existing shelf, it is a totally different component. You have to remove the shelf/storage cubby, so you see all the wiring and stuff, and then insert the CD holder. So if you have shelves, that's probably what it came with. If there is leather in the back pealing off, then the person may have just been trying to cover a hole where wires had been run.... The storage trays, be in cassette or cd are useless. The cubbies pretty much are the best things to in that space...

I mentioned it to the dealer, he had one in stock, and gave it to me
I thought that was pretty cool....And it is sort-of a waste of space, but it's free!
BTW, since you all know so much, how much $ is the NAV unit, is it any good, and does it work with the existing BOSE? Thanks

The NAV Unit starting with MY03 cars CAN be retro-fitted, because of the MOST fiber optic network. Price is knda high tho, I think up wards of $1500, check with you dealer. Not sure about the bose, tho....

Solsavr:
I have an 04 C4S with the Bose and Nav system, so I am sure you can retro yours. As far as the quality of the Nav system, it's been pretty good so far although I haven't been too far out. It's the same system (or very similar) to that on the Cayenne which I liked quite a bit, enough to do a few short cuts on unfamiliar dirt roads without getting lost.
Good luck..

interestingly enough, the Porsche NAV System (called PCM2) is the ONLY nav system able to be retrofitted to the 03 and after porsches and STILL work with the BOSE system (that you paid 1000$+ for).
that said, it is very expensive, about $3000-3500 depending on where you buy it. PLUS at least 10 hours installation. @ ($100~ hour - average porschedealer labour rates)
thats 4-5000$
if you need it, its worth it, otherwise, its overpriced for something that you can live without.

Wow, that is high! I would think that a good audio installer would be able to install it though...for much cheaper.
Looking through the accessories booklet, the pictures look like this indeed does replace the BOSE "head-unit"...so the NAV must be a all-in-one solution? (and would contribute to the overall high price)
Thanks for the info....
