Default Reverse light switch

When I first bought my car the reverse lights wouldn't come on for a few seconds after the tranny was put in reverse. Then it got to the point where they wouldn't come on at all until I would wiggle the gear shift a bit.

Now they don't come on regardless of what I do. Is this a known issue or is there some sort of adjustment I can make to the switch?

It's a Porsche certified car BUT that doesn't mean it's covered under my extended warranty AND I would like to know ahead of time if this is covered or not. The dealer said he wouldn't know until they look at it.

Nick, I also had RL switch problems with my car (a 99 C2). It was not a very expensive part. I was able to change it myself, it is under the pass side, towards the front of the trans(look for wires and a connector). Its actually a GM part and uses a SAE size wrench. I ended up using an adjustable wrench since space is tight to manouver the wrench and none of my other wrenches would fit. No more problems after changing it. Good Luck! Lou

Thanks Lou. I'm going to see if it covered under my extended warranty or not. I have had the car over a year and have yet to use it... might as well get something out of it if I can!

Well it was the switch and it wasn't covered under the Porsche certified warranty. $127 out the door is what it cost to fix it.

The part was less than $20 and I was going to fix it myself BUT what the hell, it was already at the dealer and I wanted it fixed... so I paid to have it fixed. Guess I was lazy today!

Default Do you happen to have the part number?

Do you happen to have the part number for this? Looks like I have the same problem.

Thanks
Jamie

Sorry I don't. If I can remember I'll look at the paperwork and see if they listed the P/N.
