Default 1999 C2 - Any idea what this wire is for behind the radio? Also carpet trim gap?

I was taking out the aftermarket radio unit and satellite radio unit that was on my 1999 C2 and I noticed that there is a wire in there that is not connected to anything. Seems to be part of a group of wires that lead towards the passenger airbag but from videos online this doesn't look to be the plug at all. Any clue what this is for (highlighted in yellow in photos below).

Also, curious if anyone knows whether the 1999 carpet trim under the center console is supposed to have a gap at the end or am I missing a trim piece? It's like this on both sides. From youtube videos it seems like some cars extend all the way to the back but I'm not certain if this is for the 996.2 vs the 996.1. At the same time, this parts (#12) seems to show that the trim piece is flat as well:

The wire might be the one for the stereo alarm and if the console is supposed to have a trim piece, mine's missing too.

Thank you! Is there supposed to be a connection into my radio for the wire?

There is a tongue in the mounting frame onto which the connector is pushed. The idea is that when pulling the head unit out, said wire is no longer grounded and the alarm starts blaring.

Thanks that’s helpful. Would you be able to confirm i’m looking at the same thing? My CDR-210 actually has a 993 part so I think the radio frame is slightly different. It looks like the ground is this part here?

Can't say for certain but it very much looks like it. If thr connector fits, then I would consider that the confirmation.
