Brake Pedal Switch--PMS/ABS lights--Fixed Without Replacing?
As the title suggests, I had the PMS/ABS lights on the dash and alerts on the screen for a month or so on my 02 4S. Purchased a replacement switch, got under the dash (my back is not happy with me) to do a trial run before actually replacing it.
I was able to twist the current switch, which is what I was trying for. Was planning to go back in the evening to run the full install.
Twisted it back in place and took the car for a drive. PMS/ABS lights off, brake lights operating as they should.
Did I fix this just by readjusting? Has anyone else had this experience?
Thanks!

The plunger on the switch is adjustable for length. Pull it all the way out before installing, then pressing the brake pedal will set it to the right length. You may have pulled it out (lengthened it) while you were fiddling about down there. If so, and if the problem really was that the plunger was too short, you certainly could have fixed the issue.

There is a spring inside the switch that can fail, causing intermittent problems. The switch is pretty cheap, if it acts up again soon, just replace it.
if you remove the switch, verify the plunger moves smoothly, and doesn’t stick in the depressed position……
