Hi All,
I am looking for help on diagnosing my ENGINE LID LOCK. Not the front Trunk, the rear engine. The front trunk opens fine with the switch by the driver's side door. However, the engine lid lock switch does nothing/. I was able to access the emergency cable and pop the trunk, but is there a way to repair this easily? IS it the switch by the driver's door or something else entirely? Any suggestions or links to videos would be greatly appreciated.
Did you try to have someone lift The deck lid gently as you released the lever? That can work if your Deck lid rubber bumpers are not giving enough lift to release and pop up when you pull on the lever.
What year car....yes it matters. Depending on that answer there r multiple threads on failed parts. Any threads that refference the frunk u can use as a guide for the engjne lid. Both system r basically the same.
Have someone lift it while you hit the button. Once open there are rubber bumpers on each side of the lid that you can unscrew out several threads which will help the "pop" when hitting the button. Thats what I had to do as I had the same issue with mine.

Try this simple test - when pressing the rear deck lid switch on the door sill, do you hear a click or sound like it's trying to open? If not, I would look closely at the electric actuator (#8).
