Default Experience with headers

Hey everyone,

I'm currently considering buying headers from a company called Racing Dynamics. I haven't been able to find much on these and was wondering if anyone has experience with these and/or headers in general?

Thanks.

Most headers won’t/don’t give you any performance gains without treating/changing the rest of the exhaust system as well as the intake system and re-tuning/timing etc. - ie: the stock exhaust manifolds/headers are optimised to the rest of the stock tune & engine components.
Sound is different story - aftermarket headers will definitely change the sound, but often (not always) to the detriment of performance. Be leery of claims of 20 hp gains…there has been plenty of discussion concerning such over the years… do a search. Good luck

I recall Racing Dynamics from my E36 M3 days. They were nicely made, good quality at the time. Cannot speak to current times though.

I'm an e28/e30 guy and I also remember Racing Dynamics being highly regarded back in the day. Like you though, I have no idea what they're like now or if they're even the same company.

Thanks everyone for your input! @dporto, this is great to know, thank you. I already have 200 cell cats and would be doing a custom tune post headers if I went ahead with the purchase. Would there be anything else to watch out for?

@dan_189 , glad to hear you like them. Curious how it changed things for you? Sound, performance etc.?

To be honest I installed them so long ago I don't really remember how my 996 was before I had them. Definitely more responsive and a more raspy sound. I got them to complete the setup of Cargraphic 200cel xpipe + Cargraphic supersound mufflers. Would recommend that setup but it can be a bit loud on longer drives

I don’t know if I’d say there are “things to watch out for” besides the questionable power gains, and of course questionable quality of parts purchased. One of the big questions in my mind is always: Why is one set of headers $2500 (or sometimes more) and another set of a very similar design (equal length, long tube, etc) cones in around $500. Material is always in question (ie: is it what they say it is?) and then there’s workmanship warrantee etc. Good Luck
