When A/C is on and running the car feels weird:
- Vibration
- Clutch feels different
- Surging
- Weird noises
When ambient air temp rises above 75f the A/C no longer blows cold no matter what I do to the controls.
Took the car in to the dealer last fall, and they were unable to replicate the problem completely because ambient temp was too low.
Took the car in to the dealer this past monday and they were able to replicate the problem on tuesday and wednesday but were unable to diagnose the problem. Then on thursday and friday they were unable to replicate the problem.
They told me to wait until it gets hotter outside and they will try again.
What is so complicated and difficult about diagnosing and repairing the A/C system??
Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? Seems to be to be something mechanical.
That actually sounds like what happens when the AC is on for just about every car I've owned, including my current 996
Vibration - with stiffer motor mounts, normal.
Clutch feels different - because the engine is lacking up to 20 ponies due to the AC, thus more RPMS are require to acheive similar off the line response.
Surging - Also quite normal
Weird noises - Once again, every single car I've owned.
Though the AC blowing not at it's peak, could be a leak.
I had a/c problems recently on my '04 996 with 1200 mi. -- no cold air at all. The problem was a leak due to a defective seal. Dealer fixed it promptly and all is well. Ask you dealer to check all seals relating to the a/c.
all other cars I have had never had surging, weird clutch feel or vibrations with A/C on. It's really exagerated effects and even the dealer said something is definitely wrong, they just could not figure it out. Hopefully a third visit in july will find something. Just wanted to see if other people knew what might be happening.
