That looks great...
Where does the Nav hardware get installed?
Does the screen flip up to insert disk?
Do you have to switch discs if you want to go from DVD function to Nav function or is there a multi-disc cartridge of some sort?
How much is this thing?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm suddenly interested...

OK, to answer the questions:
I installed the nav unit in the trunk, it is only 1 din size, so very small - but make sure that it is mounted horizontally for the gyros to work.
The face slides down wards, and out at the bottom to insert a disk. I will post a picture later so you can see.
The nav DVD is placed inside the nav unit, which is separate to the monitor unit, so you can play any CD or DVD in the monitor unit, whilst still having the nav DVD loaded in the nav unit.
As for cost, you Americans always pay a lot less than us Brits, but i paid £1899 for the monitor and nav unit. I guess in the states you will be paying abouth $2000 for the two. You should really add a Music Keg to the system as well so you can load up 20Gb of songs and never have to worry about a CD again. The TV tuner is also a separate item which I installed.
Hope that helps.

Great looking install. Looks very factory. I just put the Kenwood (ktv 7015 ?) with the fold out touch screen in my sons P/U as a high school graduation present. This is very similar to what Kevin has in his 99 cab. I was thinking about the same thing in my 99 cab as well, but your install looks so factory that it probably makes more sense.
More questions. Are those the thin cup holders at the top of the unit? If I have an early pre-thin cupholders car is there a piece that can be used to fill the opening?
Thanks.

Rick,
I think you'll find that the opening in a car without the cupholders is the same as a car with them as the air vent is bigger if you don't have the cupholders.

Awesome job.... It looks so professional... Where do you mount the GPS antenna?
I did not want to install a Nav. unit yet because I need more time in my Porsche... "Sorry, Honey. I got lost."

The GPS anntena is mounted below the plastic bit of trim where the windscreen wipers sit. This is the best place for it I think as there is no metal to obscure the signal, only a thin bit of plastic. I get a perfect GPS reception, and it can't be seen from the outside!
I can post a picture if you want the exact location.

Got the illumination wire, but matt, what did you use and how did you make the piece under the deck to fill the gap? Can you give me some info on that? That's the last thing on this one...Installing the Nav portion this week....any problems getting through the firewall? What about the speed sensor? And some info on the GPS antenna install as well...Thanks. By the way I really like the look of this in the car.....Works great, looks great.

Now for the big question - since I have the Bose in my MY03 996, is it possible to add any of these DVD/Nav units to my car with that darned MOST BUS system that Porsche has decided to use?

No, have to get rid of the bose radio and amp. Have to use a dvd/nav/cd/radio and maybe or not a seperate amp. Try looking at different car audio shops to see whats avaliable.

Had the same installation carried out on my 996TT about 3 months ago, as you can see from the pic. I opted to have the satnav fitted where the CD rack usually goes, the silver/black just matches the interior so well
