I think it’s a question of how much slop you have before you do the upgrade. The biggest change I noticed was the solid feel I got when shifting into first, as opposed to with the stock setup where it felt like I was in muddy water hunting for the gear.

The others have gotten better as well. I think for me, I partly assumed that it would be this almost gun-like feel, precise metallic sound, etc. And it’s not that. But it is better. And I have more piece of mind knowing that the components are aluminum and also simply the fact that I put it together myself and now know exactly what the bits inside are.

In a perfect world, I’d love a shorter throw from 1st to 2nd.

I have a stock 996 plastic shift lever unit + Shift Right bits installed. It took all of the play out of that assembly. It made the shifting more precise and predictable. I still don't like how it shifts. I've been spoiled I guess, by having had several cars with truly wonderful shifter action.
