Is there anybody that makes a "whale tail" wing for the 996?
Looking for something very similar to the 87 turbo cars. something flat, with a grill on the top. can't seem to find anything that matches that. i thought that was a classic porsche wing but nobody makes anything even close except for techart, and that one is a little big for my wife's taste. going to see a techart mounted in person this morning. i'd love to find something like the 87 turbo, black grill on top and all.

i saw that. it's nice. no grill on top and it curves way up in the back. it's nice, but not what i'm looking for. i'd like something flat with a grill. looked at the techart in person today. it's sharp. however, no weather stipping on the front of the spoiler and it creats a high speed whistle. when you open the decklip up completely it rubs on the back of the car. not what i'd expect for a $3K wing.

I bet this is what you are looking for. This is one cool looking tail for a 996. I believe this whale tail is a techart rear spoiler II...

Good luck - let us know what you decide...
PS - There's also another thread on rennlist with the same spoiler on a cab:

I really like the way the techart spoiler looks. I went and saw it in person today. However, the manager at the dealership pointed out that fit was not all that good. When he opened the rear decklid, it rubbed against the body of the car. Not good. Another problem with that piece is that there is no weather stripping between the front of the spoiler and the body. He said it creates a horrible whistling noise at speed. It was mounted on a brand new anniveray 996 in the showroom. He said he is going to pull it off as soon as he can find a matching stock decklid. THe techart can't be removed easily as it bolts on to the stock decklid.
Looks very cool though.

No idea who makes the wheels and the whale tail only belongs on a 70's to 80 something Carrera Turbo. Sorry.....

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's pretty straight-laced in the 928 forum too. Incredibly knowledgeable guys, but I feel like Chris Farley sitting in on a Harvard classroom when over there.
