Default Lojack vs. other systems

I just received my 2004 C4S Coupe (Atlas Gray/Natural Brown Leather/GT3 wheels/etc.) and would like to get Lojack or one of the other systems. Recommendations would be appreciated, as well as sources in the L.A. area.

Many thanks,

I could be wrong, but I thought that Lojack could only be installed at the dealer. I didn't think that they were using after market installers.

They may have some competition, but I have no idea who they are. I think Lojack has this segment locked up.

I got my lojack in my 928 installed at an aftermarket Porsche racing shop. Call your local lojack distributor for dealer locations. All my cars have a lojack

I don't understand wanting lojack. I am all for preventing theft, but once my car is stolen, I don't want it back.
Am I naive?

I have LoJack and I bought it at the time of sale. LoJack can only be SOLD through their dealer network (which consists of 95% factory authorized car lots). LoJack is only INSTALLED by an independent technician, not the dealer who sold it.

The chepest price I've heard of someone paying is $600 (which is what I paid), although many dealers start at $1000 or so (pocketing the difference).

I wouldn't waste my money on it, plus they'll probably introduce squeaks/rattles when they install it!

It's in my car, but I couldn't tell you if it added any squeaks or rattles as they won't tell me where the transmitter is located. But then again, I really don't have any squeaks or rattles. Just lucky I guess, except for the RMS issues.......

I had it installed in my 04 c4s cab when I bought the car... I think it was $750 but it also reduces your insurance so it's not that bad to get.

Knock on wood, but I don't have a single rattle in my car and it's a cab.

LoJack is real easy to find. There will be a flat antenna attached to the lojack unit (it use to be an orange block about 3"x3"x8") with a coax cable. The antenna will be in the passenger compartment, probably near the back of the glovebox and the lojack unit will probably be within 2 feet of it. They can't get that creative with the installation because the unit needs to transmit RF. The deeper into the car they go the weaker the signal becomes. I'll post some pics later tonight.

I think it's a joke that they're so secretive about the location.

So now the owners of the cars don't have a clue where their theft recovery system is located but the professional criminals have a list of potential locations and can probably get to it in a matter of minutes...gotta love it.

Kinda reminds me of the gun control policies that keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens but does nothing to crack down on the black market that keeps the criminals supplied with firepower.

I agree, LoJack is secretive about the location of their transmitters for the exact same reason the NRA will never allow a crack down on the black market but that discussion belongs over HERE.

I wasn't trying to start an OT discussion...just testing the waters...and it looks like Jaws tried to bite my foot off.

Here's the picture I took, not too exciting. If anyone wants a picture of the rest of it (cable, connector & antenna) I can do so on the weekend.
