Default 996 Carrera, Does a new door lock mechanism need coded?

Neither door lock operates after passenger door lock replacement. Ugh.

No, it does not need coding.
Something else is amiss, I'm afraid.

I love it when I go to fix something and something else breaks it's probably a bad new door lock. Guess I'll put the old one back in and see if the door locks go back to operational

You need to make sure that the new part has the same part number as the one you removed.
there are few variations.

That is a good point, the European ones are different. The pop up in searches for parts and are generally less expensive, but will not work correctly.
