Default Removing Smudge on Dash!

Hi-
I am a new member here and need some advice on a couple of topics. I just got a 1999 996 Artic Silver Carrera that I just love.

1. There is a whitish smudge on the dash near the passenger air-bag. I have tried cleaning, ArmourAll, Lexal, etc. with no success of removing it. Any suggestions on possibly wiping something over it possibly to match the black dash color?

2. My car has the old style headlights with the yellow lens at the bottom. The small triangluar shaped lens on the driver side has a leaky seal and gets water trapped inside. I was hoping to replace the triangle lens on both sides with clear lens. Also is the larger yellow lens replaceable with a clear lens?
Just don't have the funds to replace them with Litronics.

Thanks for any suggestions!
Gregg

Depending on where you are, most highline dealers have one go-to guy for leather/vinyl repair. Make some calls and find that guy, and call him yourself. These guys are wizards at things like this.

One trick I've seen used is to apply (lightly) some lacquer thinner to remove stains from leather. Be sure to use a Leather Cleaner and Conditioner afterwards. If you get too aggressive, you can damage the material.

You can swap out your headlights for the later '99 lights - I had Litronics on my '99 (mfr date after 9/98). Simple replacement I believe.

Couple of cleaning suggestions:

1. Woolite and water solution

2. Magic Eraser (the type sold to remove marks from interior walls)

3. Alcohol

4. A solvent like goo gone.

As for the lights you can find the standard lights on the ebay (or various classifieds) all the time with clear bottom lenses for much less than the Litronics. Easy swap. Then you just have to replace the triangle.
