Default Seat switch wiring

I’m trying to remove passenger seat switch from 02 996 c4s. I lifted the cushions and disconnected 2 connectors. There is a third wire that goes from switch into main connector that has to be disconnected to remove the seat. Do I need to remove that? There is no way to disconnect from that without removing but that seems like it would upset other things. That main connector has another wire coming out of it that runs off someplace else. Suggestions?

it’s the brown and red wire.
somedays I just hate cars. This should be simple.

It’s these two wires that are still connecting seat to switch. Everything else disconnected. Do the two wires just pull out or do I need to take apart to get wires out. Red and brown wires.

Argeo - The power and ground pins are bullet type 999 652 571 22. You can pull them with a pin puller. If you look at a pic of the part you’ll see where the little teeth are that engage inside the connector box. You can also take needle nose and push them out. Third option is grab the top of the metal pin with needle noses and use brute force. They go back in pretty easy, snapping back into box. These three methods will keep you from pulling out the wire from the pin.

Did you already remove the belt warning light wire from the connector box? Can’t tell. Mark the wire pin positions on the connector.

Thanks, I haven’t removed anything from the plastic box the 2 wires go into. So are you saying I can grab the metal on each wire and pull out with force or push out from other side?
just to confirm.
thanks.

IIRC there is a section of the connector that locks it in place. It is on the side of the connector. I believe it is just to the right of your finger in the photo in this thread. Grasp the center section on the side of the connector and pull outward. That should release the connector from the seat.

That is to release the electrical source. I had to pull that to disconnect wires that the seat to car.
Does the puller have a certain name. Not sure what I am looking to buy.
Thanks everyone.

I dont understand whats goig on here? R u r just removing the seat? Just pop that connector off the seat frame. I think it just slides off a tab. No need to depin anything. Also u can pull the 4 seat bolts and flip the seat in the car for more access.

U r making this way too hard.

Seat is out. I’m trying to remove seat switch. And yes, im probably making this harder tha it is.
There are three bundles of wires coming off the switch. Two go to two connectors I just disconnected.. The third has these two wires red and brown that go to a connector. These are the pins mentioned above. There is another large wire that goes into this connector but is not related to switch. Picture below show that 3rd black wire. The brown wire is on the back side of red wire.

Why are you taking the seat switch out?

Anyway to take out the seat switch you do need to remove those 2 wires from the main connector. Do it like this:
1) remove the main connector from the seat by twisting it 1/8 turn
2) there is a small piece of plastic that secures the pins in the connector. It's either blue or yellow. It pulls out from the end of the connector
3) get an electrical terminal remover which is a small, thin wall cylinder. You can get them on amazon. Example of a huge kit:
Amazon Amazon
4) select the terminal remover that just fit over the metal end of the connector pin and push the terminal remover cylinder onto the metal end of the terminal. Push hard.
5) pull the wire and terminal out of the back of the connector

Switch is broken. Seat won’t go forward. Popped out connector, thanks for the tip.

Argeo - dporto and I both did extensive write ups on seat wiring stuff…lots of photos and info on the 997 seat swap thread. You should find enough info there to boost your confidence level.

Thank you. I had watch that video. It was similar to mine but I have 3 wires (third for air pump I’m guessing). I used it to get me to where I am today.

I’ve never used a pin puller before.
so do I just put this over the pin and push like heck? From what I’ve seen, the puller should go around pin and push down two wings (to get flush) on pin to get flush with pin and pull out. Is that it?
