Angry D**M Pothole

Hit this just wrong going through an intersection. Rear tire gone and after dropping that off at the dealer noticed the front tire has a big bulge, so its gone too. 13 miles from completing my breakin and was ready to redline it tonight.

Anyone try to collect from the City of L.A. on something like this?

man, that's a bad looking pothole. where in LA is it? (so i can avoid it)

Good luck collecting anything from the city - liability for property damage is almost always a no win.

That is the only reason I have been going back and forth about getting some 19 inchers for my car. Sorry to hear about the damage.

in boston that only qualifies as a small bump! a big pothole is one that you can't see the bottom of. (seriously)

sorry about the damage, that really sucks.

Since I recently hit a pothole in LA that blew out one of my tires, I am all too familiar with this.

The city is broken down into "districts", and you have to call the right one to file your complaint. Try this website to get more info:

jcnesq - sorry to hear the news...I hope you can collect!

I saw a Jetta hit a pothole in Boston here the other day. The hole was so deep that the front clip and rocker panel of the Jetta bounced off the asphalt when the car fell into the hole.

Of course, the totally oblivious driver on the cell phone just kept driving along...

Thanks all for the information and sympathy!

Interestingly, I made an online pothole repair request online on Sunday evening, and when I drove by Tuesday morning, it was already fixed. I also asked for a phone number for claims, and they emailed telling me to call ... my own number (must have been the Jetta driver mentioned above).

Got 2 new tires today and I'm out almost $600; now I'll see if I can collect something from the City.

What's sadder is that doesn't appear to be your normal 'wear and tear' pothole, it looks like it's a sh*tty job of patching. Our tax $$ at work.....
