Default 99’ idle control valve replacement question/help

Hey everyone!

Replacing the ICV on my 99 and my question is this, can you replace it without removing the throttle body? The t30 socket I have will not clear the plastic pipe on the one bolt.

Thanks!

I took mine off without any issues. I believe all I had to remove was the air box and one or two hoses going to the TB, but definitely not the TB itself. I had to use a 1/4" bit driver though. Mine also had security torx with the dimple in the middle and not regular ones. If you haven't already done so already, I recommend just cleaning it up really good and replacing the gasket before replacing it. That was all mine needed and they are stupid expensive I want to say when I looked a few months ago they were well north of $300.

The pipe in the way is from the aos, here is a picture from Pelican Parts tech section (purple arrow). How do you disconnect this?

If you look closely there is a little serrated "grippy" bit just to the right of the purple arrow in that photo. Simply squeeze those (there is another on the bottom) and pull and the hose will come right off.

Have done this a bunch of times. Heads up I believe it is a T27 - maybe I am wrong and have been using the wrong head this whole time lol. Can definitely do it with TB on the car. The hose you're talking about will flex downward a tad. I suggest using an extension for your ratchet too. Be careful taking it off though because you can lose the gasket like I did... Is hard to find.

Did you pay the Porsche tax or did you manage to find a Bosch OEM unit? Those seem hard to find nowadays.
