Forgeline FUC3 Wheels on a 996?
Anyone run these on a 996? Beautiful wheels but they are not produced in 18”…. 19s look good on a 997, but suspicious as to the look on a 996 given the NB, etc…

What are the specs? They do have a cool retro look.

19"-21" diameters and 8"-16" widths.
Available in Factory Centerlock & 5 lug variants as well as ForgeLine centerlock conversion pieces.
5 lug fitment centers can be built to accept factory Porsche centercaps.
Can spec an almost endless number of colors and finishes on the inner barrel, face & outer barrel.
We can Paint to sample match any part of the wheel to your car as well."

There are plenty of folks who run 19" wheels on the 996 with no issues. If you like the look the rumor on the streets is expect a bit harsher ride. I have never tied 19" on my car so I am just repeating what I read.

With a upgraded coil over suspension my car rides beautiful on either set I have 2 18 and 2 19s no regrets

Good tires fix all that and they'll probably ride great on 19s.

Really? What does “good tires” mean? Generally speaking, due to the very low sidewall on 19” tires in the sizes needed to fit the 996 they provide a harsher ride than 18”s regardless of how “good” the tire is…

I don’t know what you run for wheel/tire combo but an adjustable suspension solves a lot of problems
when it comes to ride tires play a big part I found that Michelin run harder and continental a bit softer the general were the stiffest the ventus v12 was a great compromise and very good all around tire
my favorite is the continental almost as good as the Michelin and definitely a better rain tire and yes I do have and used all of the sets above as I have 6 sets of rims on/for my car now
and to get a better ride adjustability and softer sidewalls contribute and this is from current usage
also I felt very little difference between 18 to 19 if you adjusted your ride

Hi All,
I contacted a rep for foregline who is interested in producing 18 inch versions of the wheel if we get enough who are interested. I had a mockup of how 18 inch wheels would look on a lowered 996 aero sans wing, which is where the direction of the mods of my car is going. I am ready to put a deposit, but I imagine the more that are interested the more likely it will happen. Anyone else interested?

Tread design, tread pattern and compound... harsher is relative. Ride quality from tire to tire can be very different especially in certain environments. My lowered, 5000lb VW Touareg has 295/35/21 tires and a Michelin Latitude 3(Cayenne Spec) rides very differently than a Michelin Sport 4S(M01 spec) and rides considerably different than a Continental ContisportContact 5P(N0 spec). We can argue the merits of either but a 19" vs 18" isn't that big of a deal in daily driving for most of us and you know what a "good tire" is. 19" tire selection vs a 18" isn't as great so there's that.

Agreed. My buddy has 19’s on his 996 and it had similar comfort to my Michelin PS4S. I don’t remember the tires he had, but I don’t think they were one of the usual recommended high performance ones on Rennlist. Felt perfectly fine in casual driving, though I didn’t push it or take it on a back road.
