Default Window drop timing?

Hi, I have a 2001 Porsche Boxster s. When I open the drivers door from the outside the window drops 1/4” to clear the soft top but then when I release the door handle the window rises again and hits the convertible top when I close the door.

if I exit the car from inside the window works correctly, dropping 1/4” and staying down until the door closes again.

the passenger side door window works properly.

I have tried raising and lowering the drivers window and holding the button down for 10 sec in both the fully up and fully down positions and this has not fixed the problem.

what can you guys suggest?

thanks
Dan

Had this problem. You need to replace the dock lock mechanism.

I agree but the part where it works properly if opened from the inside is puzzling. When my latch went bad, the window would raise as soon as I released the handle, whether that was the inside or outside handle. The part that senses if the door is open is in the latch and not related to the micro switches in the handles.
