Default mirror memory has a mind of it's own

So I've searched threads on this and seen folks having trouble getting their mirrors to dip down when in reverse, but haven't seen how to fix my particular problem. I set the memory for the key setting to have the seats and mirrors where I want them. The passenger side does the reverse thing about 10% of the time, which..whatever. The bigger issue is sometimes the drivers side goes haywire when I start the car (not in reverse) like pointing at the sky, or way way in- two adjustments I never use. Any ideas?

I'd start with removing the memory/controller that is under the drivers seat, clean all of the plugs and receptacles, reassemble and test. Most important is the 26 (or so) pin connector. All of the mirror control signals go through that.
