Angry Loaner Tool

I have the need for a Time Sert that is M14x1.5 to repair a stripped thread on my 1999 Porsche 996 C4 Convertible. I there anywhere that would loan this tool or anyone have one to loan? I hate to spend about $ 140.00 for a one time use.

Help.

I am in Michigan and need to replace the long front suspension bolt that holds the coffin arm. Since it is torqued to a high level the Helicoil will not hold at that torque. Porsche uses TimeSerts for these types of repairs. The problem happened because the previous owner did not notice that the ball joint was perished and so it caused the coffin arm to wobble and perished the threads.

This is probably not the correct size, but when I typed in Time-sert to google it autofilled to time-sert tool rental. Looks like you could potentially rent what you need. Could this work for you?

The helicoil will hold the 118ft-lbs, but i agree the timesert would be better. I used one in a hub as a temp fix for a lug bolt. I held 110ft-lbs just fine.

Im more concerned with if there is enough meat to install a timesert, they require much more room then a helicoil. That nutsert is welded into the structual front "horn" of the unibody. U may have to have a body shop cut it out a weld a new one in.
