Removing old PPF

Removing old PPF
Question for those with knowledge and/or experience with detailing/paint work. Photo is the front end of a black 2004 tt. Car was ceramic coated recently but this apparent clear bra has been on the car for 10+ years. Can this be removed safely or should it just be left alone?
Thanks

It can be removed but there is a risk of it pulling paint with it, even if its softened. Unfortunately its just one of the risks with PPF. I've pulled old PPF before and had no issues, I've also had new adhesive pull off a small amount of clear so yeah.

Use a heat gun to soften it, or pour boiling water on it (then heat gun to keep it warm). When it's that old it's going to come off in small chunks, just keep at it. You will want to buy some plastic razor blades too. Once you've removed the PPF, most of the adhesive will still probably be left on the paint. I really like the Turtle Wax adhesive remover. You'll need to do several passes with it, but it will get everything off.
