Default Need Tires!

Apologies if this issue has been covered, but I am a new 996 owner, planning to run it this winter in Northern Michigan. Then I got a flat on the all-season tires it came with, mounted on BBS wheels. I CANNOT find a tire combination that will match. I am willing to go for a new set of all-seasons, or preferably mount the original turbo twist wheels that came with the car with snow tires. After reading many of these forums, the closest I came was Pirelli SottoZero 235/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear. The guy at TireRack said the difference in circumference wouldn't work with the all-wheel drive system and was going to call me back after checking with some tech guys. That never happened and in the meantime the tires were delivered. Do I mount these tires and see what happens (my tentative plan), or does anyone know where I can find the factory-size (either all-season or snows)?

I have the stock 17" for winter for my C4 and got the last set of 17" Sottozero's that tire rack had. AND they had 2019 date codes to boot. Tire rack said they won't have new winter tires in stock (in sizes we use) until August of 2022. Don't know if that is true or not, but I do know that finding snows this year is tough, at best ! My oldest went to get a set of new snows (18") for his 996 and could find a thing. Good Luck.

Oh, I do have a set of Michelin PS3 A/S - Fronts are 205/50x17 and they have 8/32nds tread remaining, Rears are 255/40x17 and they have 7/32nds tread remaining. They are in excellent condition, are not weather checked and have no plugs or other damage on them. They have "born on" dates and were installed in 2014, at around 49,000 miles. They were removed at 57,000. Reason the tires were removed was to make way for a full set of snows for this winter. I'll let them go for $300 for all four, but shipping is on you.

I came was Pirelli SottoZero 235/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear.

Those are a difference of almost an inch. Do not mount those.
I would get the stock sizes for the 996.1 225/40/18 and 265/35/18.

tire rack has these wheels on close out for 98$ a piece. I'm an idiot so I bought a square set up that can be rotated. 30mm rear H&R spacer

225/40/18 Falken Eurowinter
18x9 sport edition Cup 4s
I ordered the tires with the intention of buying an 8" wheel but they were sold out everywhere so I ended up with a little stretch (tires are still rated for 9" wheel)

I like skinny tires in the snow, haven't noticed any adverse handling

positive offset on the front? oof needs an alignment

I've got a set of stock 17" rims with new Michelin allseasons on them. Put about 2K miles on them. They are mounted and balanced. Looking to sell if you are interested.
