Could someone explain what the differences are between the 996 01 and 02 front ends? I know the headlights look different, but not exactly sure what that any other differences are. Specifically, would a 2002 front bumper fit on a 2001? If yes, is it plug and play? If no, why not and can the fit issue be easily overcome?

Take a look, the bumpers are not interchangeable.

 

The bumper, head light and fenders are specific to each model, mk1 and mk2.
