Default Tar Pits Under AC Compressor

Good day gents,

While doing the AOS I pulled the AC compressor. Underneath it I found tar pits, or rather oily sludge on top of the engine. Is there a likely culprit?

The oil cooler is a little wet at the bottom. But there are a couple of connectors next to the secondary air cross pipe. The puddling is right under those.

I'd like to address it now while the car is apart.

As always. Thx for your insight

Any oil or fluid leaks on top of the engine pools right where that pit is. It is probably Power Steering fluid from the pump reservoir, or oil from the leaky intake manifold. Check those, change the orings, tighten the clamps, and that is all you can do.

Is it green-ish? Looks kind of greenish. My money is on power steering fluid…

Now that you say it, I do think it's power steering fluid. the tar pit was odd and sticky. It didn't act like oil that had puddled. Power steering fluid that got "boiled" over time could end up looking like that. and it was mainly on the front of the engine, closest to me, and not as much towards the back by the oil cooler.

When I first got the car it was leaking power steering fluid as well. I tightened everything up and it stopped. With this round of parts going on I have replaced all the green and black o-rings on the power steering reservoirs.

Thank you!
