I doubt it would change the value.
It would be easy to swap back if desired.
Rust, well that may be a completely different thing.
A cheap aftermarket tip may rust easier than OEM.
Stuff doesn’t rust easily down here, but I see cheap aftermarket crap completely rusted all the time.
Don’t go cheap!
I have Fabspeed tips on my 2002 C2:

Yup, I've been using the same style aftermarket tips as @Flyfishnick since 2017 and they are perfect (https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...eir-996-a.html). They fit great and the stainless steel finish is amazing -- still looks exactly like the day I put them on. I could never get the OEM tips to be perfect, even with metal polish. Of course I kept the originals (I'm an originality guy), but haven't found any downsides with using these quad tips. A bit of a sultry affair for an originality guy , but It's a fairly subtle (easily reversible) mod that looks great.
No downsides to value, probably all upside because it looks so much better and there aren't too many originality freaks for 996's (yet). PCA Concours won't care at all -- they don't care about any mods that look "appropriate" (at least in the one concours I did).
Personally, I think that they do make a difference in appearance but beyond that not much more. As Tex pointed out, you can always hold on to the OEM set in case the next owner wants them!
I have the same year c4 how much did it cost you the labor bro ?
It's a DIY job, so labor was free.
IIRC you just need a 14mm deep socket, ratchet, and a 14mm open end wrench.
My 15 year old daughter has those tools, so I expect any car guy/gal to also have the basic tools required.
It took me several attempt to get them aimed just like I wanted.
I just installed these tips (or at least a very similar set). I got mine from Mina Gallery in LA. Very happy with the results! I had to cut off the old clamps with a sawzall. They were most likely original from 2003, and NOT going anywhere easily. A new set of clamps from Pelican did the trick.
