Default Side view mirror motor replacement

Hi gang,

Vehicle is a 2000 Carrera Cab.

I noticed my passenger side mirror does not move inward or outward using the switch on the driver door. It does, however, move up and down. The Driver mirror does work normally in all four directions, eliminating the likely hood of a bad mirror switch.

Any suggestions how repair/replace this suspected bad motor? I will be replacing the mirror switch with a spare (once I get it) but I suspect I’ve got a bad mirror motor.

Thanks

Cheapest way is probably to find complete used mirror from ebay, and then take neccesary parts out.
You can also get new part (mirror base) , like https://www.rosepassion.com/en/diagr...5-67275-z70208

Before replacing the mirror or it's motor, I would recommend to check the plug connectiing the mirror to the harness. Despite the thin O-Ring, some oxydation may be responsible for this issue. BTW, no need to remove the door pannel to do this.

Thanks for the suggestions guys . . . I found a clean used side view mirror on eBay for $33 delivered.

I’ll check the connection/O ring first, if that doesn’t work I’ll verify the new side view mirror motor works and if need be swap it out.

Default UPDATE:

I finally got to addressing my non functioning side view mirror. I removed the mirror glass, then removed the three screws holding the adjustment motor in and replaced it with an extra motor I had. The new motor worked identically as the original motor did, up and down it worked, inward and outward it did not.

I then removed the inside cover plate of the side view mirror, reseated the pigtail. . . and voilà! It worked.

The pigtail was loose. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, JB001 you were spot on.

I still have a good spare passenger side view mirror just in case.
