Blown wiring harness from Battery Jump?
The battery was dead from the winter and I tried to get it started this morning. Hooked it up to an Acura, got full interior lights back, let it juice up for about 15 minutes then tried to start it. click, click, click but no turning over of the engine. Called AAA to have them come jump it and the guy with his tow truck couldn't even get a charge in to make the lights come on. Now my mechanic (though he wants to see if a new battery will work first) thinks the wiring harness may have gotten fried in the process. aaaaaggggghuuuuuuu!!! I should have just had it flatbedded to the mechanic and had them drop in a new battery in the first place! A little ticked right now, thanks for listening...

Sounds like a new battery is needed. A real dead battery sounds like that. No lights-nothing. IF it did make clicking noises witring harness should be fine. Hope it's just a battery. Regards. Mike

Echo, above, a dead battery will not take a charge and is a very poor conductor for jumping............Deep cycling a battery will kill it. Yours is a 99....time for a new one.
Keep an eye on your "mechanic" he could cost you a lot of money for no good reason........

It's to my understanding battery should be changed every 5 years under normal use. Down the line you may want to buy a portable jump starter-sure beats having to find someone with jumper cables and another car. Very useful tool for jumpstarting especially if car is stuck inside the garage and not able to get a car or jumper cable long enough to reach. And I second Gretch's opinion-jumpstarting a car won't fry a wire harness-I guess cars these days have enough failsafes ie fuses to prevent that from happening. Regards. Mike

Sounds normal for a dead battery. The jump shouldn't have done anything bad to your car. That would fry my relationship to the mechanic.
I tend to keep a spare charged battery around the garage for this type of crisis. I have two for the trailer winch, and just keep one on the charger. Makes it easy to swap a battery and start the car. AS

Its a dead battery. see when you kept trying to jump the car the strain on that low battery broke one of the battery cell. When that happened no more current will flow through the battery and thats why nothing happened.
