are they using knock detectors and how are they mounting their power plants to isolate them from false knock.?

Everyone likes sportier and tighter, but when there is empirical evidence that it is bad for the engine, it seems like a no brainer to stick with stock.

This thread has inspired me to install the OEM motor mounts I bought about a year ago but never found the time to install. What's the best "how to" video out there for installing 996 motor mounts?

Wow great insights and knowledge. This is something I'd have never even considered, but reaffirms that I made the right call paying the extra $ to buy genuine replacements. Thanks for sharing, and thanks to Jake for making the video.

Default Already have the mounts

I already have the Function First mounts in my car. Like some of you this post makes me worry even though my mounts are supposed to be less stiff than a true semisolid mount.

Is there a way I can use my iCarsoft II data logging to see if my ignition is being pulled or knock sensors are being triggered before I go through the effort of buying OEM mounts and selling my FF ones? Thanks!

I had torque solutions semi solids on mine and I f’ing hated them. Factory mounts are the only way to go. This makes that 1000x more true!

Do you have any experience with ROW engines knock sensors being different to USA?

N=1. Speaking strictly empirically...but better than N=0.

Here is the Porsche supercup solution to motor mounts. Did these cars have problems with false knock sensing? The mounts look pretty Beefy. are they solid? Looks like they might be.

The engine was also built to last until 1 more lap after race was over
and probably get rebuilt for the next race

Do we have any info on these or are they too uncommon in the 996 to have any data on them? Talking about genuine only not URO ones...

yes, apparently. do they have knock sensors? how do they prevent false knock with the full race motor mounts like zbomb has and are installed on the super cup cars?

Quick Reply: I hope nobody had stock in aftermarket engine mounts
