Default Suspension refresh

I have searched and haven’t found a lot about refreshing the suspension with stock components vs PU bushing (seems to be the popular choice). I have a 99 with H&R street performance coilovers and tarret toe links installed in the rear about <10k miles and 4 years ago. My mechanic described my suspension as floaty. Not sure exactly what this means or if this is a characteristic of the coil overs. Regardless, I’m sure the rest of my components are original. Why don’t people refresh with OE rubber instead of PU. I’m probably 99% street with maybe some DE type experiences here and there. Car handles great on the twisties as is. I can imagine the steering can feel a bit tighter so thinking about at least doing the front.

what are the right questions to ask where and what should I be looking at. New to Porsche world but have experience doing work on many other platforms. Should I tackle this in my garage or worth having it done? Free time is not something I have much of these days but enjoy turning wrenches.

Fcp Euro sells kits to replace all the suspension component for the front and rear. They r a combo of trw and mieley parts. Trw is an oe supplier. The parts r not overly expensive and perfectly fine for a street driven 996. U will also want to look ar the strut mounts and bearings too.

I would imagine a indy shop could swap out each end in under 4hr, plus u will need an alignment.

I wondered the same things about polyurethane vs rubber. I decided against poly due to squeaking I had on another car. I have coilovers, rear GT3 LCAs, rear Tarrett toe arms, and rear Powergrid end links... and the car rides well, but I want it to feel more like a new car. A few days ago I ordered all new control arms with the rubber OEM style bushings and also some Eibach sway bars front and rear, as well as new outer tie rods. That means I will have all new arms and bushings for every part of the suspension. Also got Powergrid adjustable front end links to match the ones I have in the rear. I’ll let you all know what the difference feels like.

Just replaced every bushing to go along with my coilover install. Suspension was mostly original with ~115k miles on all but one drop link and rear dampers. Found it cheaper (and less labor) to just replace the control arms with Meyle and TRW than rebush with poly. The exception being the rear subframe bushings where I went with Powerflex black.

Sounds like a nice setup and refresh. How did the car and ride turn out? Noticeably improved?

I'll know in a about a week after new tires and an alignment.

I'm also contemplating a suspension overhaul for street use. Front end feels too floaty - US spec. M030, especially turning into corners, don't have the confidence it will hold like it did in my former BMW or Subaru.

I've installed TRW parts on my former Boxster S, the quality was A+.

I like the idea of coilovers (Feal with swift springs) but I also really like how H&R sport springs work with the tightly wound coil at the top (helper spring?) to smooth stutter bumps. Was considering pairing these up with my stock sport struts?!

I don't want a track day set-up, rather a complaint street set-up that's confidence inspiring on hard cornering.
