Default Another idea

Check every so often Porsche North America, when I was looking for mine thru them I found a couple of lower mileage pristine that were sold at their dealerships. If I remember correctly one was a one owner and the other was 2 owner car. This cars in my opinion were overpriced but now that I understand what you want it makes sense. You are right on the money California, Texas, etc car. Mine was only in California and then Arizona.

Default Check PCA

Check the classifieds at Porsche Club of America. As of right now there are a few cars that may interest you. If you want to contact the sellers you need to join . I’m already in, anyway after you join call the general number so that they can expedite your access. Today I’m going to the third event in a moment. Most people are greAt, fun to talk to and I have found out they are extremely helpful. Also so far what I have seen is that members are passionate about their cars, records, maintenance etc. Good luck, IMO the cost of membership is more than worthwhile.

These cars are not prone to rust. Salt on the roads during the winter can corrode undercarriage components and make them harder to work on, but many cars in those areas are not driven during the winter. You can widen your search,

398, thanks for the info. I actually already joined PCA about six months ago, so thanks for the tip.

I looked through the ads on the site and, yes, these strike me as the kind of people who I would enjoy meeting at an event and talking cars. Thanks for the tip. I'll keep an eye on their classifieds and see what I see.

There are probably more Porsches per capita in CA than any other state, maybe anywhere in the world, so eventually the right car will present itself.

Thanks Again,
HD

Default A suggestion

First Flat six posted a budget 996 yesterday. It’s being sold by a very reputable Indy in the Bay Area. Maybe check it out. I think it ticks both budget and reputable source.

Thanks. I think it already sold.

I didn't know about that site. It's perfect for my search. Appreciate it.

Thanks!

Buy one with a blown motor then send it to FSI...You'll thank me later!

One option not mentioned is to go to PCA events, HPDEs, and cars & coffees where Porsche people (water-cooled, lol) hang out. Network. The best deals are not advertised, will come from a friend of a friend who’s a P-car fiend who wants to upgrade.

Yes, for sure. In fact, if not for COVID, I would have begun attending Porsche events last summer. I have quite a busy year ahead of me in 2021, including a brand-new grandson to dote over, so I'll be somewhat limited this summer; but by next year I will be fully in the saddle.

Thanks, Turkis.

Since FSI does not list prices, let me take a guess. Their new basic stock replacement for the 996 is around $30K or more, correct?

Just taking a wild stab.

Thanks
